let me start with big laugh... hahahah... I first thought "Farmland" instead of Farmlab... no wonder I was having trouble... anyway... my visit at the farmlab was on April 22, 2011. I had trould finding its place, but overall I was both amazed and disappointment. Like Mr. Glenn mentioned that the event will only be held and open on friday noon, I was rush to get in on time. But only thing I did from farmlab was taking picture rather than hearing any speech from speaker. on top on that, everyone was out for lunch!!! the work that were display at the farmlab had to do with either environment or society. the work that caught my attention was a garden that was built in old car. I think I saw at least 2 differnt styles of car garden. one look prettier than other because of the colors of the flowers but overall I thought both were interesting work. who would ever image that dumping trash old car can be turn into useful material that gives great view and beauty? oh! what I find out as I was looking at some of my picture was that from a pharse where is say "another city is Possible", because of my bad angle of taking picture the letter "A" was missing and I said to myself... "other city is possible." "another city is Possible" whether its other or another both or all city is possible to change abandon materials to look creative? can have another life to give beauty to environment? I just thought to myself.

12th artist- Gary Hill
Gary Hill was born in the year of 1951. He was a video artist and he was influenced by the intellectual orientation of conceptual art which dominated art of the 1970s. language and body were his main primary focus. I felt that his work has same concept as Tony Oursler. The work I called myself as confuse but has most powerful meaning to it. you have to look deeply and listen carefully to come up with the idea of what the author is trying to saying. his work would also repeat same habit or words but it has strong meaning into. Both Tony Oursler and his work was realism work which are produce from human body.

Tony oursler is a multimedia and installation artist. He was born in the year of 1957 in New York. The ideas of which he used the projector to produce his work seem really interesting and quickly cathces attention. He would use the projector to reflect his body part to anywhere which gives creepy and funny looking works. The bottom video clip is one of his work he have done previously, and as I was looking at this work, I felt that a young child who is wishing and desire to be loved by parents or friends. In the video it would constly repeat "kiss me.. kiss me.." Most of his work can be seen as simple but to me, I thought it was most powerful work that is well standing and meaningful. all of our emotion comes from our heart which can be seen into our face. so I thouhgt since he often uses people face it is well standing and gives different expression and looks.

Masaki Fujihata
10 artist: Masaki Fujihata
Masaki Fujihata is one of the pioneers of Japanese new media art. He was one of the first artists to use stereolithography, a technique in which a laser polymerizes a liquid resin as it sweeps its surface. Out of many different works from him, I personally thought interesting to know the work called “field woks.” It is Equipped with a GPS receiver, a wide-angle video camera + microphone, a pocket computer, and an electronic compass, Masaki Fujihata records his walks through sites chosen in terms of the possibility of developing a project there linked specifically with its geography and history. The material is then mapped into a 3-dimensional space using the GPS information to orient the sequence into a Field-works virtual excursion. (I had to tell you that I copy and paste because I didn’t know how to put it into my own words) using GPS and other materials to perform the work… or should I say processing the work? Either way it sounds like interesting.

9 artist: Erwin Redl
Fade
Erwin Redi is an Austrian-born artist who uses LEDs as an artistic medium. As I was looking at some of his work, I felt weird… I can’t explain in one word, but it felt more like in between of realism and imaginary place… if you look deeply on one of his work you get to feel that you are about to get into that place… it is more like seducing your body into some weird place… his work such as, Fade and Matrix... as I was looking at his work, I felt that I’m being isolate from my real world to imaginary world. Overall, his work is really interesting in a way he uses LEDs in at least 2 or 3 dimension and different feeling we all can feel as looking into his work. also, if you imagine you in the matrix dont you get feeling that your body is dividing into many different pieces? is it just me that gets weird feeling? hehehehe

Jennifer Ringley / Jennicam
Eight-artist: Jennifer Ringley / Jennicam
Jennifer Ringley is known for creating the popular website JenniCam. Ringley's innovation was simply to allow others to view her daily activities. I remembered one of our class-mate presented about this artist. As I was listening to what my class-mate says, I wondered if she was really an artist. She was showing her daily activities to others. What was she thinking? There was no sign of private. How can she be known as artist? Before I get to know about Griffith artist, I thought it was insane and some sort of scribble, but as I get to know and experience Griffith art at Venice art wall, I finally realized that it was art to express the artist ideas and emotions to audience. But Ringley, it is really hard to understand her meanings of showing her daily activities to others and be called as an artist. Am I getting wrong? Maybe she is the real artist? She doesn’t need to hide, she can’ lie, or being creative to perform her work to show audience. It is the most natural and realism art? Is it similar to say that being realism and beauty? It is beauty because it is the most natural actions? And it is realism because she is showing her daily activities to others. She is something…. Hard to understand….. but made me think about beauty and realism…

Mariko Mori
Mariko Mori is a Japanese artist. She mainly focused on photography but she was also a fashion model during the late 1980’s. Mariko studied at Bunka Fashion College then she moved to London in 1989 to go study abroad at the Chelsea College of Art and Design. Some of her most famous works include “Play With Me”, “Nirvana”, “Empty Dream”, and “Birth of a Star”. Play with me is Mariko dressing up as an attractive cyborg outside of a Tokyo toystore. She looks like a robot and she was trying to show that she connects to the robotic toys that were located inside as well as show her robotic sexuality. In “Empty Dream” Mariko manipulates a photo of a pool and inserts numerous pictures of herself dressed as a mermaid around the original photo. She says that this symbolizes the rise in technology in mankind. In her later works she shows a liking to alienlike landscapes and rather abandoning more realistic urban scenes. overall, Mariko Mori was very interesting artist to me. mostly, she was the model on her work and her work connects from past to present or message she wanted to express to audience. also, it was very interesting to know that all the custome she used during her performance were kept in capusle bottle and remaine unopen for the next 25 years or more.

FOUR AVATAR!
First, I represent myself as if Im one of the game character. Im not a gamer, but my boyfriend is, so I want it to experience how it might feel if I were to be a game charcter. It is a male because usually male character tend to be sharp and attractive! how will it feel to be a male? as I was creating this male avatar I dream and thought about myself as being male and dating girl. I can be gentle... and nice.. not like my boyfriend... I want to show him how man can be gentle and sweet!
My second Avatar is one of my friend who has three child. If i were to get marry and have a child I want to be like her. she always seems powerful and a mother that is more like superman.. or I should say superwoman? nothing will harm her family...
My third Avatar is pure American blond lady. When I first came to America everything seemed interesting and new. Especially a lady with blond and speaking perfect English seemed attractive. What will have happen to me if I were to be a Pure American girl? will I create different impression? will my attitude change towards non-american?
My last Avatar is myself! how do i look? do i look different? or similar? I tried hard so that way if anyone see my avatar they would call out my name. out of my three different avatar this is my favorite one! this is me! I'll appreciate my appearance and always have confident!!! my side picture looks more like myself... I dont know about my front view.... overall, it was really fun and like playing game... like when I used to play barbie like doll, and changing clothes and appearance...
Beall Center for Art+Technology
Today, I went to UCI to see the work of Art at the Museum. When I was inside the building, I notice that there was only 3 pieces of work that was display. I first saw the work of art called Bird. I didnt know what to do when I was standing infront of the Sculpture, then the lady who seemed to be in charge of the museum was explaning to me. she said that I should play with it and see how it reacts to me. then I asked her if I suppose to touch the Sculpture and she have reply "no" instead I should just move around my body and see how it changes and react. So as I was moving around the sculpture it began to change its shape as if it was ready to fly away. I asked her how it response and how it react to my movement and she said that it has little sensor that tracks our movement and react. all three sculpture reacts to my movement, and I was really having fun watching reactions and changes. Especially Bird, it seemed as if its ready to fly away, and Inner Space seemed like as if I was going into the space. it was more like sucking my body into its Inner Space. Lastly, BioMorphic was like creations of human body. It was hanging on the wall, and as I move around I only notice that it was getting FATTER! or maybe it was just delusion that seemed as if it was getting fatter because of the darkness of the room, But the lady who have explained to me said that they all have reacts so I believed that it was getting fatter (filling up the air). overall, eventhough there were only 3 pieces of art work, they all were interesting and fun to see how it react to my movement. I felt like I had the power to control their reaction.

Stelarc (7th)
Stelarc (Stelios Arkadiou) is a Greek-Australian performance artist whose works focuses heavily on extending the capabilities of the human body. Making art using capabilities of the human body... WOW!!!! INTERESTING! I was into a work called THIRD HAND. it is cool and amazing of the idea of creating third hand using capibilites of the human body. then as I was looking at this work, I wonder if this is really an art. I felt more like watching robot than being one of the most famous art work from Stelarc. it explains the appearance, cosmetic cover, capabilities, materials, control systems, and history. it was more like introducing a creations of robot to me. But I know that it is a art that was created from artist named stelarc. out of many different artist we mentioned and I've researched, he was the most interesting artist to me. all of his work has to deal with human body. how can we identify the expression and meanings to these works? I've learned that all aritst work has its meaning and a way to express that. but how on these? or is this something else? it is more like creations that can be useful in a way of living. what are his intendtion?
to me, it is a work that cant be easily understnad.... but still interesting in a way it all connects to human body...
something interesting...
how many of you guys know that here was a sand artist? what about tape artist? is it just me that is new to me? I just want it to share with my class-mate.. hope you all enjoy watching these two.

GRACIE KENDLE
Gracie Kendle is a name that is used in virtual world for a lady named Kristine Schomaker. the most famous works from her was called Gracie Kendle Project and 1000 Avatar Project. Just like the word "AVATAR" it is creations of one's self in virtual world. how many of us want to change ourselves? are we all appreciate the way we look? she have said that Gracie Kendle Project is exploration. think about the idea of avatar on yourself. you can become someone else. it can be someone you desire to be, or it can be someone you admired most. isnt it exciting? by creating avatar on yourself, you are most likely to experience the confident, respect, and serenity. remember when we talk about beauty ? what is beauty? if we were to create avatar for ourselves, we all want to be look beautiful and attractive. right? that is the most advantage and extiting part of creating avatar. you can be perfect as you wish to be and you can be attractive as you wish. but suddnely, I have one quesion that I want to toss it on. can avatar consider to be real beauty? it may look beautiful as the way it look, but who and what decides that its the real beauty? how can we determine the emotions on the avatar? it is ourslf and it represent us. for the short period of time, we may experience joyfulness or even way more than that, but can it be call or recognize as real? or shall we just disregard the idead of determinating realism on avatar? is it really brave to think of the idea of creating avatar and finding confident and happiness on virtual world? cant we just appreciate the way we look and what we have? AM I JUST BEING TOO SERIOUS ON THE IDEA OF AVATAR?
Bill Viola
Bill Viola is a video artist and his works focus on the ideas behind fundamental human experiences such as birth, death and aspects of consciousness. I personally thought that his video art works were kind of tedious in a way that its in slow motions and some of the video dont even have any sounds at all. I really didnt understand his expression that he intended to show in his video. but out of many different video art works, I liked one video art called The Quintet of the Astonished. this was one of the work that didnt have any sound but in a way that 5 different people show different facial expression on the video. serenity, sadness, disappointment, anxiety, and desireness. I came up with these five different meaning as I was looking at them. just like Bill Viola focus on the ideas of human experiences such as birth, death, and aspects of consiciousness, I thought humans are experiencing lots of emotions in between ife and death. like we all have different determinations of ralism and fake, we all may have different determations to express our emotions. I meant by, how many people think that realism means tangible? and how many of us called that fake is fake? just like these quesions flowing on my mind, how many of us laught for same reasons? and how many of us cry for the same reasons?
scott blake 4th aritist
Scott Blake
Scott Blake is known as a barcode artist. He creates many different types of art using real barcode from real products. Out of many different types of art, I personally like the barcode Portraits. I liked the idea of how he creates portraits of famous people out of real barcode from real products. Especially, a portrait of Elvis was made from real barcodes from his music CD’s. As you can see on the video clips, once it scans the barcode it plays the music instantly. As I was looking at the portrait of Elvis, and when it plays the music once the lady scans the barcode from video clip, I thought real products are hidden in the portrait of Elvis. It was more like many different piece of art was into one big portrait-barcode.
